The fourth Thursday of November is always a special day in the United States of America. On this day, Americans celebrate the holiday Thanksgiving. This day honors the pilgrims who arrived in the United States in the year 1620.
SANTA ANA SCHOOL has celebrated this holiday as curricular content in the subject of English. The students got to learn the American traditions from a native English speaker. Using a presentation, they were able to learn about all the special characteristics of Thanksgiving day such as New York City’s Macys Thanksgiving Day parade, the National Dog Show in Philadelphia, what is eaten at Thanksgiving dinner, and the concept of Friendsgiving.
The youngst kids, in preprimary, watched some funny videos about the origins of Thanksgiving and why it is celebrated in America. The preprimary students were able to work together to decorate a big turkey. They used their colored hands as if they were its feathers! They enjoyed painting on their hands and the final result was so exciting!
In conclusion, the students were able to see, hear, and participate in American traditions to learn about the Thanksgiving holiday.
